A Letter to All FUJISTYLE Friends: Copyright, Feature Updates & Android Progress

hi, fujifilm friends,

Recently, I foundsome users have been uploading recipes and photos using images from Fuji X Weekly instead of their own original photos. Because of this, I have received copyright-related emails from the rights holder / platform, and I now need to make some compliance adjustments as soon as possible.

To protect original creators and to prevent the situation from getting worse, I will be making the following changes:

1. iOS Community Flow Adjustments

Over the coming period, I will prioritize updating the iOS community-related flows, including (but not limited to):

  • Content review and violation handling logic

  • How images and recipes are displayed, filtered, and managed

During this time, some features may be slightly delayed, changed, or temporarily restricted. Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.

2. Android Feature Progress

For now, my main focus will be handling copyright-related work on the iOS side first.

At the same time, Android will also need proper copyright handling, so overall progress may be a bit slower than planned.

  • The Android version is not cancelled. After I finish the iOS and copyright work, I will continue to improve and complete the Android features.

  • My current goal is to launch Android and align the main features before January (if this changes, I will share an update separately).

And just to say it clearly:
The Android version will launch. Definitely. I promise. 💪📱

3. Use of Fuji X Weekly Images & Recipes

(1) About images

  • Please avoid directly using Fuji X Weekly images when uploading to the FUJISTYLE community.

  • This includes images saved directly from the Fuji X Weekly website or from other platforms.

  • The same principle applies to other photographers and creators:
If you do not have permission, please do not upload their photos as your own content.

In some cases, there are photographers who are more open about usage.

If a photographer explicitly allows reuse/sharing, I strongly recommend that you add proper credit in the Recipe Note, such as:

  • Photographer / creator name

  • Original link or platform

  • Any other relevant source information

This helps us respect and support the original creators while sharing.

(2) About recipe (Recipe) sources

  • There are a lot of recipes in the community, and it is impossible for me to 100% accurately identify whether every single recipe comes from Fuji X Weekly or not.

  • Right now, I can only rely on some typical scenes, naming patterns, and obvious characteristics to make a rough judgment, so there may be omissions or mistakes.

  • If I find content that clearly overlaps heavily with Fuji X Weekly, or if I receive reports from them or from users, I will prioritize removing that content and, if needed, take action on the related account’s violating content.

4. About privacy & private recipes

If you do not want your recipes to be publicly visible, you can simply turn off the “Public” switch (or visibility toggle) when saving your recipe.

  • When “Public” is turned off, your recipe will not be shown to other users in the community.

  • It will remain your private recipe, only visible to you.

Right now, all recipes on FUJISTYLE are completely free to view.

Anyone can browse them in the app, which is why copyright and proper attribution are so important.

At the same time, I still hope more talented and generous users will share their own recipes with the community, so that more Fujifilm users can benefit and learn from each other.

5. A personal note from me

To be honest, sometimes this is really tiring and exhausting.

It’s just one person behind FUJISTYLE, and there are moments when I simply can’t handle everything perfectly or in time.

There will be oversights and mistakes in how I consider certain issues, and I want to sincerely apologize for any trouble this has caused.

I will keep trying to:

  • Do a better job managing and moderating the community

  • Add clearer in-app prompts and warnings about copyright and content rules

  • Think more carefully from a product design perspective about how to build safer, clearer, and more user-friendly flows

If you have better ideas or suggestions, you are very welcome to email me at:

Finally

I really do not want this situation to get worse, and I don’t want issues caused by a small number of cases to damage the community’s atmosphere or everyone’s passion for creating.

My original intention in creating Fujistyle was to make the Fujistyle camera community a better place Instead of disrupting others' work, I will also try my best to conduct inspections and reviews in the future

I will keep cleaning things up and optimizing the flows step by step.

My goal is to protect creators’ copyrights as much as possible, while still allowing everyone to happily share their own photos and recipes.

Thank you so much to everyone who continues to support and understand FUJISTYLE.

I’ll keep doing my best. 🙏
